Hi there, my name is Dagnachew :)

I’m a 27-year-old software engineer based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I’m a problem-solver at heart,
relentlessly chasing an efficient solution where there ought to be one,
and reimagining the problem otherwise.

I am the cofounder of Tuba.

Tuba is an ebook and audiobook platform for Ethiopian books.
It is one of the most popular mobile apps in Ethiopia,
with hundreds of thousands of downloads.

As the cofounder and lead developer,
I was primarily responsible for the technical side
since conception to what it is today.

I have been a freelancer on Upwork (an online work marketplace) since 2018.

Although I mostly only had time for smaller gigs,
my client-first approach has earned me a 5-star review
from every single one of my 30+ previous clients.

My university days were spent learning
a bit about software engineering and a lot about life.

I went to Addis Ababa University,
the most reputable university in Ethiopia,
and graduated with great distinction.

I went to Lideta Catholic Cathedral School,
arguably one of the best high schools in the country.

I was one of the 50 highest scoring students nationally
in the secondary school leaving exam.

I spent my formative educational years learning how to learn
as much as (if not more than) what to learn.

That has fundamentally shaped the way I learn new things, interact with challenging problems, or even make jokes.

I value enduring wisdom over ephemeral knowledge, and opt for human solutions over technological ones, where possible.
